Walking past the remaining wool clip sitting idly in the shed in the breathtaking Hakataramea Valley, Charlotte Bell recognised a way for her and her family to be warm and stylish on the sideline and beyond. This beautiful wool from the farm’s Romney ewe lambs, with a faultless combination of the precise crimp, style and micron count, thanks to the family’s skilled eye for selection, would make the most stunning coat.
Finding a chic 100% natural and New Zealand made wool coat was near impossible, making Charlotte more determined than ever to create a key piece that showcased their sensational wool.
So, The Clip was born, creating an ethical and natural pathway from wool to wear while being completely New Zealand made. A timeless edition to the wardrobe that is equally suited to the Saturday sport sideline as it is departing the theatre on a wintery evening. A key piece that will stand the test of time. Created with natural materials, with quality to rival the most environmentally conscious products.

Meet the team.
Our central team consists of us, the founders, Charlotte and Hamish Bell, along with our two beautiful primary school-aged children. Hamish’s parents, Alex and Denise, passed on their love of wool to us, as well as Alex’s wool selecting talent. They have played a key role in creating the legacy that is The Clip. The first edition coat is named after Denise and we couldn’t be prouder.
We consider `our team’ to include our wider community of businesses that assist us in getting our product from wool to wear. With each process, another passionate New Zealand wool-loving company is right behind us ensuring the wool is treated with the respect it deserves. It is astonishing how much effort, time and attention has gone into our timeless coats.
